This week we are stepping back into time back to the 90s! We’re bringing you some vintage skirt remakes, and lots more skirt fun from the 90s.
My mom (Audrey) wore this dress for her eighth-grade graduation ceremony.
Awful, isn’t it? Sooooooooo 90’s from the HUGE glasses to the clip-on shoe bows. It had been hanging in my closet for a few months before I decided to make it into something more…wearable, shall we say?
Here are the steps.
#1. I cut the waistband off of a skirt that was too small and too short. (Sorry I haven’t got a before picture)
#2. I cut the top off of the dress, and gathered what was left until it fit the waistband that I had cut off.
#3. I sewed the dress bottom to the skirt waistband.
Now doesn’t it look nice? It still looks vintage, but it doesn’t look old anymore.
Total cost: $0!
Total time: 2 hours (It was my first ever remake!)
Talent Level: Beginner Seamstress
This is a great way to keep and enjoy and outdated but memorable piece of clothing.
So what do you think? Past or present? Obsolete or Out of this World? Vote in the poll and then comment to let us know what you think!

Always be exciting,
Allegra.
This is Audrey popping in to say…that dress was pretty cool when I was wearing it, and the 90s don’t feel like all that long ago! But Allegra did a beautiful job here, don’t you think so too?!
