It’s Friday! So we have an All The Skirts: Sis Boom & Imagine Gnats skirt for you! Be sure to scroll all the way to the end of this post to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway for your chance to win Sis Boom patterns and Imagine Gnats fabric for yourself.
This skirt is another combination to delight any girl! The Perfectly Preppy skirt pattern is actually 3 distinct skirts all in one pattern. It takes a few minutes to realize this when you receive your pattern, but just like the Patchwork Twirl Skirt, the instructions make it very understandable. We chose to sew up the pleated version Perfectly Preppy Skirt. There are also circle skirt and gathered skirt versions included.
When we received our package from Rachel of Imagine Gnats, we were so thrilled with the interweave chambray fabric she chose for us. We’d agreed on chambray, but she has so many gorgeous chambrays in her shop, we just couldn’t choose and let her surprise us with the color. I don’t think she knew we were going to sew up this skirt for Aria and that purple (crocus) is Aria’s favorite color!
I did not make any changes to the pattern, and it was very easy to sew with the pleating template. I had never made one of these before, but wow! I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing it again, it was so rewarding!
We just love pleated skirts, and this one looks every bit as professional as the RTW (ready to wear) one Annie paired with her Apple-Picking Peplum. Except nicer, we think because we made it! Out of fantastic purple chambray.
This time we did not make the matching dolly (or bear!) skirt for a few reasons; Aria has outgrown the matching dolly stage, and we simply did not have any extra fabric! You see, when we told Rachel our needed fabric requirements, we didn’t factor in the yoke!
While Rachel is so generous, she probably would have sent us more, we were able to piece the outer yoke from the remaining fabric, and use a Cotton + Steel remnant for the yoke lining.
As with the Patchwork Twirl Skirt, the inside of the Perfectly Preppy Skirt is very cleanly finished, but next time we will probably make just one change when sewing it: sandwich the skirt part in between the yoke and lining for an even cleaner finish. We did not sew up the shorts or bloomers for underneath, so we’re not sure if the whole fabric sandwich idea would work with those options!
Allegra took all the wonderful photos for this photo shoot.
We wanted the focus to be on the skirt once again, so we styled everything else in pure white.
The gorgeous purple chambray fabric really shows of the Perfectly Preppy Skirt, don’t you think?
Everything was white except the books. Which the girls got a little crazy with toward the end! But no books were harmed in the duration of this photo shoot!
Even though one came close!
another beautiful skirt!! and I’m so glad the color was perfect, though you really can’t go wrong with any of them 😉
