It seems Allegra and I have a Lane Raglan contest every year! Last year I sewed each of us Lane Raglans and we had an ongoing dual about who had the better one and who could wear which one on what day. And in the end, she ended up wearing the blue one the most and I ended up wearing the gray one the most often!
So when Adrianna, the genius behind Hey June Patterns, released an expansion pack for the Lane Raglan pattern it was time for another Lane Raglan contest. The newly updated Lane Raglan pattern includes a hoodie and thumbholes, so of course we each had to have those. As a 6 foot tall woman with knuckles that drag on the ground very long arms, I’ve never had thumbholes, much less sleeves long enough! So needless to say I was pretty excited.
Allegra and I each chose our own fabric and style. I fell in love with some quilted knit from JoAnns, she wanted eggplant french terry from Imagine Gnats. I wanted form fitting, she chose slouchy and comfortable. She got it, that’s for sure. That french terry from Imagine Gnats is heavenly!
I tried to convince her to sew her own, but she dragged her feet long enough and I wanted mine desperately enough that I ended up whipping up both of them. She didn’t complain.
Let me just give a little review of the expanded part of the Lane Raglan pattern. If you follow us on Instagram, you saw the first thumbhole cuff I made and my pure delight! Usually when I’m sewing a pattern, I can visualize where the instructions are taking me. But when making this thumbhole cuff, I was completely blind, just following the instructions, and they came out perfectly!!! The hood also is fantastic, I love how it overlaps in the front.
And also a word about Adrianna herself. She is so friendly and has fantastic custom service. For example, I emailed her several times about installing the eyelets on the hoodie, and she replied so fast and helpfully. In the end, it turned out that I was holding my eyelet tool upside down! Sigh…
I loooooove my new Lane Raglan hoodie, and so does Allegra, obviously. Don’t tell Allegra, but if she ever takes hers off I’m going to steal it! I even caught her sleeping in it, so I think she may be onto me…
I’ll take 5 of them please! 🙂

Just made myself one without thumbholes. I love your versions! I put in a cowl instead of the hood (ran out of fabric) but I love it too! 🙂 https://kopykatkidz.wordpress.com/2015/10/09/fall-clothes-for-me/
