2 Lucerne Blouses

Lucerne Blouses sewn and reviewed by Skirt Fixation

Lucerne Blouse, how we love thee!  The Lucerne Blouse is the newest pattern from Hey June Patterns.  It’s a loose fitting, woven top with several neckline and sleeve options.  Plus you can use the sleeves from a couple of other Hey June Patterns too, so the options are huge!  We sewed up 2 Lucerne Blouses as part of our Hey June June festivities.

Like all the Hey June Patterns we’ve sewn so far, the Lucerne Blouse is comprehensive, detailed, and allows the sewist to obtain professional results.  This pattern can be sewn in 11 sizes from 2 to 22.  The recommended fabric is lightweight woven fabrics with drape like rayon challis which we used for both of these.

Since I was sewing for bodies other than my own, I first sewed up a muslin, had my daughters try it on, and made adjustments based on the fit of the muslin.

The 1st Lucerne Blouse uses the scoop neckline and the flutter sleeves from the Amalfi Dress.  The adjustments made to this one were a wide shoulder adjustment and 2” of length added to the front and side hems.

The fabric for this Lucerne Blouse is seafoam abstract brush stroke rayon challis from Raspberry Creek Fabrics’ custom CLUB line.  (I was gifted this fabric as part of the Hey June June festivities.)  This rayon challis is the most soft and drape-y ever, and perfect for this Lucerne Blouse.

Aria loves the feel and fit of her new blouse.  She pairs it with a Gabriola Skirt we sewed using Robert Kaufman rayon/linen fabric.  It’s quite a stunning combination!

The second Lucerne Blouse is for Allegra.  For hers we used the v-neckline and the petal sleeves.  On the muslin (which was made from a stiffer fabric) the petal sleeves stood out from her shoulders, an effect she didn’t care for, but I assured her that this rayon would lay much nicer!  The fabric is a sand-washed rayon challis.

The adjustments made to this one were a full bust adjustment, grade out one size at the hips, and 2” of length added at the front and side seams.

In these photos, Allegra paired this Lucerne Blouse with a knit pencil skirt and blue suede pumps which is also a very stunning combination!

We can highly recommend this pattern from both a sewing side and a wearability side.  The coolness of the rayon fabric and the loose fit will make these very nice to wear all summer long.

Stay tuned for how I used those dramatic tie sleeves from the Lucerne Blouse.
