French Terry Up Beet Dress

Burgundy, Mustard & Pink Toddler Capsule Wardrobe created by Skirt Fixation

It’s finally time (okay overdue!) to share modeled photos of our Burgundy, Mustard and Pink capsule wardrobe. It’s just that this busy mom only has so many hours in a day, and between Outnumbered the Podcast, Project Run & Play and everything that being a mom to 9 kids entails, blogging somehow slips through the cracks.

The Up Beet Tee & Dress pattern has become a fast favorite both for Tina to wear and us to, well, watch her wearing! The shape is really so cute and so many fun combinations of fabric can be used.

Even when you have a scratch on your nose, it’s pretty fun to wear!

We used some french terry fabric from our stash (leftover from this dress) for this Up Beet Dress. We’ve also used it for some pajama pants in the past. It’s super comfortable, and we found some similar fabric which we’ve linked at the end of this post.

One thing we really love about this pattern are those little details that all come together to make it awesome. The shoulder gathers for example.

And one of Tina’s favorite features of the dress are the pockets. They’re a really fun shape, and sewn to the front of the dress, with a hidden entrance on the side seam.

You can see a peek of the kitty fabric we used in the pockets on the photo above. It was leftover from the original “kitty dress” we sewed for her. From 1 yard of this fabric, we also got the sleeves, pockets and bindings on this dress and a little pair of bike shorts for underneath.

All kitty all the time must be her motto! We actually have 3 cats now, and they’re all her bosom buddies, but I digress.

Here you can see how the sleeves wrap around to the back of the dress. They’re a combination raglan/set in sleeve, and constructing them is so fun! I know I’ve said it before, but everyone needs to sew this pattern for the educational value, that’s for sure!

And here she seems to be showing off her new arms-extended-to-the-sides pose. You’re going to be seeing this one a lot apparently…
