Phoenix Blouse with Lucerne Sleeves

Phoenix/Lucerne Blouse and Fumeterre Skirt sewn by Skirt Fixation

Our love of the Phoenix Blouse is well documented, so it should be no surprise that we sewed up another Phoenix Blouse, right?  This one is especially delightful in all those little details.  Oh, and this outfit is from one of our Make 9 Goals for 2020!

Take for example the yoke.  We layered lace over the yoke and it’s SO pretty!  We left the bottom of the lace free from the yoke so that pretty scalloped detail could shine.

And then there’s that lace tie.  Want to know a secret?  That little black lace (almost invisible!) tie is actually made from hem tape.  So much easier than making a tiny tube out of lace and trying to turn it!

And then, of course are the sleeves!  These are from the Lucerne Blouse, and designed to fit perfectly into the Phoenix blouse.  Which they do.  Perfectly!

Aaaaaand that shaped back yoke detail!  Gets me every time…  It’s really no harder to sew than a straight yoke in the back, but the DETAIL is so good!

The details don’t stop at the Phoenix top though.  This is the Fumeterre Skirt, and it had so many delicious details too.  Like that angled pocket.  The pockets are oversized and in just the right position on the skirt!

And of course there’s all the topstitching detail on the panels of the skirt.  And the fullness of the skirt!  It’s so yummy!

You can’t see it here, but another detail is the gathering across the back of the skirt.  I actually need to tighten up the elastic in this one because the fabric is stretch denim, so this skirt fits looser than the last Fumeterre Skirt I sewed.

And if you look closely, you can see the fully functional front fly at the bottom of the Phoenix Blouse in this photo.  Another professional detail!

Besides the wide shoulder adjustment to the Phoenix Blouse that we always make, we pretty much sewed up these two patterns as designed.  And we’ll keep sewing them too, it’s all in the details!
