Hygge Vest Pattern

Hygge Vest sewn and reviewed by Skirt Fixation

There’s a new favorite vest pattern in town!  We sewed up the Hygge Vest from the Project Run & Play shop, and we’re in love.  Stick around for a game of who wore it best at the end of our post…

The Hygge Vest pattern is a bodywarmer/gillet/vest with zip fastening.  Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) is a Danish concept which encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life.

This is a lined, zipup bodywarmer/gilet/vest designed for thick/warm fabrics. There is an option for a straight or curved hem. You can choose from a high collar or scuba style hood. You can add smart welt pockets and/or ribbed arm cuffs.

The Hygge Vest can be sewn in 15 different sizes from 0-3 months to 12 years.  It uses woven fabrics and has a tutorial on how to quilt your own fabric if desired.  I can’t wait to try it out!

We sewed a size 2 with no changes.  We eliminated the welt pockets and zipper guard although we really want to try those next time!  This time we sewed the version with the collar It’s so cute!) but next time we’re going to try out the hood.

For the exterior fabric we used some chambray designed by Alison Glass leftover from making this Cheyenne Tunic.

The interior fabric is some super soft faux fur we also had in our stash!  It was relatively easy to sew and work with…meaning we only ended up breathing in a little as opposed to a ton of hair! 😉

Baby is modeling this Hygge Vest with a Lemon Tee and his Morocco Pants and Shorts underneath.  It’s so adorable!

Originally we sewed this for Baby, but as he was sleeping and we didn’t know if he’d wake up in time for modeled photos, we tried it on Tina and it fit!  So there is probably going to be a war because she loved it so much!  She also thought it was hilariously funny that she was wearing something I sewed for Baby!  You can see here wearing a Stoplight Skirt underneath.
