Prose & Poetry Cargo Joggers & Skirt Pattern

Prose and Poetry Cargo Joggers and Skirt pattern from Project Run & Play

The 2nd pattern Audrey designed for the Project Lounge Library collection is the Prose and Poetry Cargo Joggers & Skirt Pattern.  It’s a long moniker, but I think you’ll see how this pattern lives up to it’s name!

Project Lounge Library is a collection of 11 garment patterns (and some awesome softie patterns too!) and 2 of them are designed by Audrey!  The Bookish Beanie and the Prose and Poetry Cargo Joggers and Skirt pattern bring to fruition some really delightful designs that were floating around in my head for some time.  The whole collection is based on comfort (for the Lounge part) and inspired by books (for the Library part!)

Be sure to head over to see the entire collection while it’s on sale during launch week!  Special thanks to Kalli June Photography for the beautiful photography of my kids in this post.

Prose and Poetry Cargo Joggers are a woven pants and skirt pattern. Comfort level A+ and totally on trend, these joggers have tons of pockets including a secret one! Their loose fit enables hours and hours of repeated wear. The Prose Cargo Joggers have an elasticated waistband and ankle length elasticated hem. There are options for below the knee shorts and a non-gathered hem. The Poetry Cargo Skirt has an elasticated comfortable waistband, subtle a-line shape and falls to the knee.

Yes, I want this pattern in my own size!  Of course during development and testing of this pattern I sewed up a WHOLE bunch of them!  The pattern can be sewn in sizes 1-16, so quite a few of my kids fit into that range.  But for the purpose of this post I’m just going to share the ones that Kalli June Photography photographed!

For our Ode to Eric Carle story I sewed a pair of size 6 Prose Joggers with elasticated ankles.  The fabric for this pair of Prose Joggers is an old sheet! We decided it was MUCH more cost effective to buy a bunch of white clothes and sheets to make this Ode to Eric Carle story.  We used white buttons on the cargo pockets, and the whole effect is so adorable!

The fabric is Plume in Charcoal from the Tundra fabric collection from Hawthorne Supply Co. in cotton sateen, and it’s so lovely!  Because Lowell prefers to wear his bottoms really, really low, they fit him for now, but won’t for long!

For our Never Leaving Neverland story, we sewed up a pair of Prose Cargo pants without the elasticated ankle.  This was the most “pirate-looking” fabric in the Tundra fabric collection from Hawthorne Supply Co.  It’s called Woven in Onyx and we got it on twill fabric.  It makes SUCH a nice pair of pants for Lowell!  He really, really prefers pants with an elastic waist right now, and has requested many more pairs of these.

We used snaps for closures on the cargo pockets, and he loves it!  You can just barely see one of the snaps in the photo above.  Also, do you see the entrance to the SECRET hidden pocket?

Do you want to know a secret?  My FAVORITE view of the Prose and Poetry Cargo Joggers and Skirt pattern is the skirt!!!  I’ll bet you would never have guessed that, right?  Both Annie and Tina adore this pattern!  It’s so comfortable and they actually have matching white/cream Poetry Skirts which they wear often.  Tina is wearing a size 2 skirt in our Ode to Eric Carle story.

Overall we’re delighted with this pattern!  Be sure to check out all the tester photos and versions of the pattern in the listing.  The testers really helped make this pattern as great as it is.
