Oh hi there! It seems like I’m back with another favorite top. This is probably going to shock you (sarcasm) but I used a Hey June pattern and the best fabric I could find! This one came about because I bought myself some really nice fabric as a reward for finishing up a job well done! (That was completing the Project Lounge Library pattern collection.)
After I heard everyone raving about the sweatshirt fabric and matching ribbing at Raspberry Creek Fabrics, I knew I wanted some! They only have it in 2 colors now, which speaks to the intense comfort and quality of this bamboo/cotton stretch sweatshirt fleece. (This is also your HURRY!!! notification if you want some!) So I bought some sweatshirt fleece with matching ribbing in the deep eggplant color, and figured I’d know what to do with it once it arrived.
And I was right! Once I petted the fabric, I knew I wanted a Lane Raglan Hoodie! I choose the Lane Raglan because it has a closer fit than the Halifax Hoodie, and I wanted a slightly shaped/fitted hoodie.
There was only one major change I decided to make; turn the 2 piece hood into a 3 piece hood. This is because sometimes I find a 2 piece hood to be a little pointy when I wear it (which I often do for warmth.) It turned out pretty easy to change, and I have a tutorial for you over on the Hey June Handmade blog today.
There are several other adjustments I make to my Lane Raglan Hoodies to make them fit my tall frame. I add a little length to the sleeve and the body length. This time, I used the longer thumbhole cuff pattern piece, without adding thumbholes, just for the long cuff look!
Overall, this is my new favorite hoodie! The fabric is SO SOFT and I’m just loving wearing it on a cold/rainy/wintery/blustery/snowy/okay-fine-every-day! We definitely love the Lane Raglan pattern around here, and sew it often.
And if you’re paying attention, I just checked off another make from my Make 9 in 2021 goals! Yay!!!
