The next pattern in the Project Smooth Sorbet collection we sewed is the Fragola Top & Dress pattern.
The Fragola pattern is an easy fit sleeveless woven top and dress, with a short bodice and gathered skirt, suitable for warm weather. It can be sewn in sizes 12 months to 14 years.
This design features a lined bodice, three lengths: top, knee length dress, maxi length dress with ruffle option – no sleeves or ruffle shoulders options, an A-line gathered skirt, side seam pockets, and back closure with buttons.
The Fragola pattern uses lightweight woven fabrics. We made two versions for Annie and used rayon challis from Raspberry Creek Fabrics for them both.

First we sewed a Fragola Top using rayon challis leftover from this shirt. It’s floaty and yummy, and Annie loves this version. We sewed the top version as a muslin to check the fit and sizing. We sewed a size 11 for Annie and it fits her great around. We only made a couple of changes for the final version.
Annie absolutely fell in love with this rayon challis fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. And I’ll have to admit while sewing it, I fell in love with it too! The large dreamy floral bouquets are just perfect for this Fragola maxi dress.

Side note: the above photo is from the lookbook for the Project Smooth Sorbet pattern collection…check it out here.

The only changes we made for this Fragola Dress were to add length to make it maxi length for Annie, and make the shoulder ruffle even wider to act as a sort of flutter sleeve. Annie also requested a self-fabric belt which was simple enough to make and adds some definition to her waist when she chooses.
