For the 1st time in quite a few years, we’re not making Make 9 plans. Oh we’re still making lots of sewing plans, but have found that the Make 9 model doesn’t fit our flow as well this year. However, you can still expect lots of sewing posts, some plan din advance and some spontaneous!Continue reading “Canvas Sandbridge Skirt & Textured Granville Shirt”

Rayon Challis Amalifi Dress with no waist seam
The Amalfi Dress from Hey June Patterns doesn’t seem to get sewn as often as some of the other Hey June Patterns. People think the silhouette isn’t for them, so hopefully after seeing this version of the Amalfi, you’ll give it another look.
Bacca Bootcuts Pattern Review
If you’ve been around Skirt Fixation very long, you know we love skirts! And hacking a pants (or shorts) pattern to make a skirt is right up our alley. So that’s what we did with the Bacca Bootcuts pattern. But first…a test version!
Fitted Knit Dress
We sewed another fitted knit dress, the Charleston Dress. Next up, the pattern. This is the Charleston Dress by Hey June Patterns. We sewed view B with the fitted skirt. And we used the short sleeves. This is the 2nd time I’ve made this pattern for my daughter, so all the fitting work hadContinue reading “Fitted Knit Dress”
{Another} Jalie City Coat 2680 {or two…}
Do you remember the Jalie City Coat we sewed in olive green stretch twill? Well, that coat has seen constant wear by me and Allegra and Aria. So it was time to make one {or two} more. The only change we made from the last version was to remove 1/2″ width from the shoulders. IContinue reading “{Another} Jalie City Coat 2680 {or two…}”
Giving the Sheridan Sweater a Second Chance
Want to hear my confession? I sewed up 2 Sheridan Sweaters at the beginning of last year. Aria’s was made from black sweater knit and mine was made from french terry. She wore hers so much that it’s completely threadbare, and she’d requested another one. I’d worn mine once. Since our sizes and styles aren’tContinue reading “Giving the Sheridan Sweater a Second Chance”
Lyric Dress Review
When the most gorgeous fabric meets the perfect pattern, you can almost hear the heralds singing, right? We got a chance to work with some Portuguese Pinstripe Stretch Suiting Grey Dress Fabric from Minerva. This fabric has with just a tiny bit of stretch, which makes the finished dress absolutely delightful to wear…so I’m told.Continue reading “Lyric Dress Review”
Make 9 Goals for 2021
At first I wasn’t going to create a Make 9 plan for the year. Which is why this is just now getting published! (It looks like I was even later last year!) But I decided to go ahead and make some plans with no expectation of HAVING to complete everything on the plan. There areContinue reading “Make 9 Goals for 2021”
Elodie Wrap Dress Review
Allegra has become a recent fan of wrap dresses. She loves the way they look and feel, and she has a wonderful figure to carry off this kind of silhouette! After looking over quite a few wrap dress patterns that I sent her, she chose the Elodie Wrap Dress pattern from Closet Core Patterns. TheContinue reading “Elodie Wrap Dress Review”
Charleston Dress
Recently I sewed a form fitting dress for Allegra, and shared some tips about sewing for other on the So Sew English blog. Sewing for others is something I’m quite familiar with as you know if you’ve perused this blog for any time at all! Side note: my favorite sewing is for myself…don’t tell myContinue reading “Charleston Dress”
