Follow the Tracks Cotton Jersey Fabric

Follow the Tracks is a very special fabric to me because I designed it for the Project Nature Adventure fabric collection with Project Run & Play!! I sewed up a couple of things with this fabric for the lookbook and fabric collection.

We’ll just go ahead and jump right into the cute baby photos here! Just like with the other cotton jersey fabrics in this collection, I sewed a Polo Romper pattern from Brindille and Twig. Yes, again! This fabric is such great quality that it will hold up to all the rolling over Baby’s been doing! And snuggles and hugs from everyone else…

I took a whole bunch of photos of Baby in this romper for the Babe {Birds Eye View} spread in the lookbook. He was just so juicy and cute!

But let’s get back to that fabric, shall we? I designed into the fabric the tracks of three of the animals we most commonly find track for on our nature adventures. Can you identify them all? Wolf, deer and rabbit!

And then I created a watercolor stripe echoing a stream for the animals to wander in and out of on their trails. The designers all decided on the color scheme together, and we used them to create a cohesive collection so the fabrics can be used together if desired.

I played around with colors and scale and layout repeatedly and finally settled on a design I just love! Do you? What would you sew with this fabric? It has amazing stretch and recovery, and has not pilled at all or faded in all the washings these garments have been receiving.

Another thing I sewed with this fabric is a Reversible Beanie from Savvy Patterns. I sewed an adult size small for this large-headed son of mine! It’s perfect so he can wear it slouchy or with the bottom folded over.

The other side is a baby blue french terry. This beanie is going to get tons of wear around here, believe me!

The last garment we sewed using Follow the Tracks fabric is an Up Beet Tee. We used the fabric for the sleeves and neckband, and some modal jersey for the main fabric. The bag he’s carrying was made by his brother Thomas, who has been playing around with leather and creating the coolest things! The graphic on David’s tee is the Wolf Digital Design, part of the Project Nature Adventure collection too.

The beautiful photos in this post are taken by Sara Wilhelm. The photos of the baby are taken with my iPhone by me, but since the baby is so cute you forgot to notice the poor quality of the photos, right? 😉
