Holly Tee & Dress pattern review

It was my absolute pleasure to design 3 patterns for the latest Project Run & Play pattern collection: Project Happy Holidays. I designed these patterns with Jenny of Made of Starlite. Over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing what I sewed from the collection.

The next pattern we designed is the Holly Tee & Dress pattern. It is a super comfy knit top and dress pattern with some really special options.

We really love this pattern, and have plans to sew many, many more of them! The Holly Tee above is made with sweater knit fabric from our fabric stash. It uses the fun puff sleeve option, a very dramatic look that we love! The above Holly tee is made using some really beautiful sweater knit fabric from our stash, but originally sourced from CaliFabrics.

Holly offers several mix and match options, for over 20 possible combinations! Combine the simple knit bodice with other knits, wovens, or even special occasion fabrics makes Holly appropriate for any occasion. Start by choosing either a straight tee, skirted top, or vintage (above the knee) length dress.  Then add a singe flounce sleeve, double flounce sleeve, 3/4 bubble sleeve, or plain short sleeve.  Optional bodice ruffles add extra flair, and fit with either the straight or skirted bodice, and any of the sleeve options. Options to either topstitch ruffles with an exposed edge or enclosed seam.  Use the standard cut charts for knits and light weight wovens, to create an every day top with Boho vibes that are totally on trend.  Follow the “Special Occasion” cut chart to use sheer fabrics, like tulle or lace, with a lining, for a show stopping dress!

The Holly dress above uses peach modal jersey knit fabric and white on peach floral lace fabric for the floral overlay. Both fabrics are from CaliFabrics.
